Welcome to Mr Tom Kurien
Tom Kurien is a Consultant Specialist Knee Surgeon and an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Knee Surgery who works in Nottingham, UK. His clinical interests include ACL reconstruction, meniscal injuries, cartilage restoration and joint preservation procedures as well as partial and total knee replacement surgery for arthritis pain.
Mr Tom Kurien is a highly skilled and dedicated consultant specialist knee surgeon, with a passion for providing top-quality care and treatment to his patients. He is based at the renowned Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and Spire Hospital Nottingham.
In addition to his busy clinical practice Tom is a National leader in arthritis pain research and has attracted over £1 million of grant funding from the Medical Research Council, Versus Arthritis and The Wellcome Trust to help treat patients with debilitating arthritis pain and sports knee injuries.
He was awarded the prestigious British Association for Surgery to the Knee Gold Medal iand has won a series of National and International awards including the New Investigator Research Award (NIRA) at the Orthopaedic Research Society in New Orleans which has been won by a small number of orthopaedic surgeons outside the USA in the last 50 years.
Tom has completed prestigious national fellowships in knee surgery at the Exeter Reconstruction Unit and the Derby Sports Knee fellowship He has also undertaken travelling fellowships to Chicago, Mayo clinic and St Louis in the USA.
